Establishment (1915-1964)

Lee’s Summit continued “Emerging” through the next 50 years. Citizens survived wars, flu epidemics, prohibition, and the Great Depression. But headlines in 1947 said LS was “A town with never a boom nor a bank failure,” a feat that made everyone proud of their town. Starting in the mid-1950’s, Lee’s Summit grew by leaps and bounds with a massive annexation bringing the total area to more than 44 square miles.
